Tourism Ministry Focusing On Internal Tourism First To Give Life To The Sector Post-COVID-19


During a webinar organised this morning by the Ministry for Tourism, the Malta Tourism Authority, the Malta Hotels and Restaurants Association, Minister Julia Farrugia Portelli said that Malta will have tourism this summer.

Hon Farrugia Portelli said that the first focus is going to be on internal tourism between Malta and Gozo, adding that by Monday, the Prime Minister will be announcing which parts of the economy will be reopening for business, as well as the respective timelines and dates.



The Minister also said that as soon as the Prime Minister will be announcing the aforementioned timelines, the Ministry for Tourism will be publishing a set of protocols for the tourism industry, including how restaurants, bars and beaches are to operate.

On safe air corridors between EU countries, the Minister said that bilateral discussions with nine countries are currently underway to explore whether and how these will work.
