Tourism Ministry Announces New Regeneration Project For Buġibba Square

 

With the Xemxija promenade embellishment nearly finished, the Tourism Ministry has announced the regeneration project for the Buġibba square in St Paul’s Bay…

 

 

Minister Clayton Bartolo stated that one million and four hundred thousand euros will be allocated to this upcoming project in a much attractive and popular place for Maltese and tourists alike.

 

 

The project is expected to begin by the end of the year and will be ready before 2022 summer. As per the plan, a new pavement is to be laid in the square, alongside more trees.

Minister Clayton Bartolo said work will be carried out after 25 years of the last intervention in the square, which is considered as a mecca for tourism, and also attracts thousands of Maltese families. The government is also considering other areas in St Paul’s Bay for regeneration.

The Tourism Minister added that, together with investment by hotels and establishments, the Government has to do its part so that the country offers a quality experience to the surrounding environment.

Tourism Authority chairman, Gavin Gulia, said that the Authority has a reputation of being a catalyst to bring over tourists, but not only because it is responsible for the preservation, conservation, and regeneration of the Maltese product.

Bartolo added that this project will be the first intervention in the square in 25 years, albeit being considered as a true mecca for tourism. The government is also considering other surrounding areas in St Paul’s Bay for regeneration.

 

 

The Minister concluded that, together with investments by hotels and establishments, the Government has to do its part so that the country offers a quality experience to the surrounding environment.

 

Meanwhile, Tourism Authority chairman, Gavin Gulia, said that the Authority has a reputation of being a facilitator to bring over tourists, but not only – because it is also responsible for the preservation, conservation, and regeneration of the Maltese product.
