According to reports from Collider, both Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire are set to return for the forthcoming third Spider-Man movie.
It’s recently been confirmed that Alfred Molina will be putting back on his mechanical tentacles to play Doctor Octopus once again, but we’re still unsure about having two other Peter Parkers!
Well, we can safely say that the multi-verse is to blame, as the current Spider-Man, Tom Holland will in fact be heading to the multi-verse, which might explain how he is going to link with his predecessors to the role – which would also open a door for Jamie Foxx to reprise his role as Electro, which has also been reported.
Meanwhile, it has also been rumoured that Emma Stone and Kirsten Dunst will also be returning as Gwen Stacy and Mary Jane again. All of this multi-verse talk makes even more sense as Benedict Cumberbatch will be playing Doctor Strange as well.
Holland himself has described the plot of the film as ‘absolutely insane’, so we’ll have to take him at his word and assume that means some sort of multi-verse flipping is going to occur.
According to internet tipsters, the movie commenced shooting in New York in October, and the film is currently slated for release on the 17th December 2021!
If everything goes to plan and the world is back to something resembling normality by that point, we might get the chance to enjoy the new film in an actual theatre.
