Thursdays are the worst for road accidents in Malta, according to new research.
The number of car crashes is the higher on a Thursday than any other day.
The data emerged from road accident figures published by the National Statistics Office in Valletta on Tuesday.
Six people lost their lives on Malta’s roads between April and June, five more than the single fatality recorded in the first three months of the year.
The figures showed that the number road accidents was down marginally in the second quarter of 2019, but there was a 10 per cent reduction in the number of injuries.
Birkirkara saw the highest number of crashes, with 312 cases.
Qormi was next with 215, followed by St Paul’s Bay on 178.
The worst time to drive was between 12pm and 3pm with 22 per cent of the total.
