Three injured as tour bus and taxi crash in St Paul’s Bay

Three people have been rushed to hospital after a collision between a taxi and a tourist bus in St Paul’s Bay.

Malta Police told 89.7 Bay that the accident happened on the road between Xemxija and Ghajn Tuffieha near L-Imbordin at around 9.30am on Monday.

A 62-year-old woman and a 70-year-old man from Mellieha were taken to hospital for treatment along with the taxi driver, a 27-year old-woman from Pieta.

The two passengers had to be cut free from the wreckage by fire crews after becoming trapped on the back seat.

The double-decker was on a hop-on hop-off tour owned and operated by Malta Sightseeing.

The road was closed for a time to allow police to investigate the crash.

The conditions of those injured are not yet clear.
