Have our Gen-Z dreams come true? Well, it sure does look like it… as a new dating app has been introduced to the market, which uses memes to match people on a humour-based algorithm for their happily ever after!
Say hello to Schmooze, a fresh face to the dating scene the strongly believes you can find your soulmate through a shared sense of humour and elite taste in memes, as the founder Vidya Madhavan explains.
The beta test for the Gen Z dating app began back in August of 2020, with 200 Stanford students trialling the new concept! At present, the app has been downloaded over 10,000 times in the US, with users swiping left and right on more than 5,000 memes!
Since its debut, the app has already made over 90,000 matches, but only a small percentage have actually taken the next step and moved onto the direct messaging function.
Ulu Ventures invested $270,000 into the company in its latest seed round, so it’s possible that new developments could be on the way soon too.
