Last Sunday, The Weeknd’s Super Bowl LV Performance took place, and the singer sported a custom Givenchy outfit, which took four embroiderers over 250 hours to finish, collectively!
The Weeknd headlined the halftime show during the big game held in Florida, donning a custom red jacket designed by Givenchy, under which was a black cotton poplin shirt and wool trousers, alongside a black leather tie and gloves.
The custom outfit was designed by Givenchy Creative Director, Matthew M. Williams who shared, ‘It’s truly an honor to have dressed The Weeknd for his incredible Super Bowl show. To me, fashion is all about infusing what you wear with a unique personality, and The Weeknd brought his look to life with his energy, character and sense of style.’

Needless to say, the singer surely ‘brought his look to life’ with the countless dancers dressed in similar red jackets and face bandages, which served as his imagery for his After Hours era.
As The Weeknd had explained, ‘The significance of the entire head bandages is reflecting on the absurd culture of Hollywood celebrity and people manipulating themselves for superficial reasons to please and be validated. It’s all a progression and we watch the character’s storyline hit heightened levels of danger and absurdity as his tale goes on.’

He concluded, ‘I suppose you could take that being attractive isn’t important to me but a compelling narrative is’.
