The Prodigy singer Keith Flint dies age 49

Tributes have been paid to The Prodigy star Keith Flint after he was found dead at home.

He was 49.

The dance act’s frontman – who became a household name with the group’s 1996 number one hit Firestarter – was discovered at his house in Essex on Monday morning.

The band confirmed Flint took his own life.

They described him as a ‘true pioneer, innovator and legend’.

In a post on The Prodigy’s official Instagram account, bandmate Liam added: ‘I can’t believe I’m saying this but our brother Keith took his own life over the weekend.

‘I’m shell-shocked, angry, confused and heart broken.’

Essex Police said in a statement: ‘We were called to concerns for the welfare of a man at an address in Brook Hill, North End, just after 8.10am on Monday March 4.

‘We attended and sadly a 49-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene.

‘His next of kin have been informed.

‘The death is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.’

Famed for his distinctive tattoos, colourful punk hairstyle and vibrant live performances, the star was originally The Prodigy’s dancer before providing lead vocals on their hit 1996 singles Firestarter and Breathe, both of which charted at number one.
