By examining 1.68 billion tweets from 2018 to 2021, Emojipedia analysts observed a significant increase in its usage during March and April 2020, coinciding with the initial wave of Covid-19 restrictions in many countries. The popularity of the Loudly Crying Face emoji has only continued to rise since then.
