A schoolboy has proved that playing video games isn’t just a waste of time.
Mohammad Shami, 16, has walked away from an eSports Fortnite tournament at Chelsea’s Stamford Bridge stadium with an eye-watering cheque for nearly €29,000.
Out of thousands of players who competed across the tournament, 100 finalists came together to battle it out, putting their gaming skills to the ultimate test.
His father says he understands controversies around the games potentially addictive qualities, but that his son is monitored to make sure he’s done his homework first.
Mohammad, from Manchester, says he’ll take his family on a holiday with the prize money, and save the rest.
