Special Valletta 2018 Coca-Cola bottles are out now

You’ll be able to take a special piece of Malta’s capital city home with you this summer.

Three limited edition Coca-Cola bottles have hit the shops to celebrate Valletta 2018, the city’s year as the European Capital of Culture.

They were designed by MCAST student Maria Graziella Zammit and inspired by the city’s architecture and culture.

Maria’s creative designs beat off competition from more than 200 different entries.

She told 89.7 Bay: ‘The designs of the limited edition bottles were inspired by decorative details I found in some of the most historical buildings in Valletta.

‘For example, the designs embedded in the majestic ceiling and balconies of the Manoel Theatre, The Palace Armoury and the grandiose paintings found in the halls of The Palace.

‘Other inspirations were the traditional Maltese balconies and the Valletta skyline, especially the steeple of St Paul’s Pro-Cathedral.’

Maria Micallef, chief executive of GSD Marketing Ltd, said: ‘We are proud to present to our customers this project that promotes Malta’s rich culture.

‘It is a great honour that during the year our capital city is honoured as European Capital of Culture, historical landmarks in Valletta now feature on the Coca-Cola bottle, which is one of the biggest brands in the world.

‘This project is further enriched by the fact that the designs were made by a young Maltese artist.’

The specially-themed Coca-Cola bottles will be available from souvenir shops, cafes and restaurants across Malta and Gozo this summer.
