Showering every day ‘can be BAD for you’

Nothing wakes you up like jumping into a powerful shower.

Obviously it also has the added benefit of keeping you clean and stopping you from smelling.

But it turns out, we might be showering too much.

Research suggests showering every day can interfere with the delicate balance of microbes on our skin, Her reports.

Basically, soap and water can wash away the microbes on our skin that keeping us healthy.

This bacteria is necessary for keeping our immune systems ticking over and our hearts functioning properly.

Showering daily is also known to easily dry out the skin and potentially cause acne breakouts if you’re prone to them.

However, there is one situation where scientists recommend taking a daily shower.

That’s when you’ve got all hot and sweaty after doing exercise.

Health expert Holly L. Phillips said: ‘It’s not the smell of sweat that you have to worry about but the fact that perspiration left behind on your skin allows bacteria to breed and that can lead to rashes and acne.’
