Actor Samuel E. Wright, best known for voicing Ariel’s trusty sidekick lobster Sebastian in The Little Mermaid, has passed away at 74 years old.
RIP Samuel E. Wright ❤️🦀 Part of the reason why I love The Little Mermaid so much is due to its soundtrack and Wright gifted us with two of the best Disney songs ever (Under The Sea & Kiss The Girl) while voicing Sebastian. pic.twitter.com/LsYq8KmWnu

The news was announced in a Facebook post by his hometown in New York, describing Sebastian as an ‘inspiration’ and explains how he and his family established the Hudson Valley Conservatory, impacting ‘countless Hudson Valley youth always inspiring them to reach higher and dig deeper to become the best version of themselves’.
The tribute continued, ‘On top of his passion for the arts and his love for his family, Sam was most known for walking into a room and simply providing PURE JOY to those he interacted with. He loved to entertain, he loved to make people smile and laugh and he loved to love.’.
“Look at the stars. The great kings of the past look down on us from those stars.” Rest In Peace, Samuel E. Wright | 1946 – 2021
