The Russian foreign minister says that parts of a possible peace deal with Ukraine are close to agreed upon. 🚨
The minister said this as early-morning air strikes hit the city of Kyiv.
Minister Sergei Lavrov told RBC news that some formulations for an agreement are close to completion.
Putting Kyiv back under neutral status is also under “serious consideration”
“Neutral status is now being seriously discussed along, of course, with security guarantees,” Lavrov told RBC news.
Negotations are still ongoing, however he added that: “there are absolutely specific formulations which in my view are close to agreement”
So far there has been no immediate comment from Ukrainian officials.
Lavrov continued that there are still other issues to consider. These include the use of the Russian language in Ukraine and freedom of speech.
