ROMA: After Di Francesco – Monchi might be next to leave

After Coach Eusebio Di Francesco was sacked, it’s reported that Sport Director Monchi will leave Roma on Friday, with Arsenal waiting to replace Ivan Gazidis.

Di Francesco was given the sack after a 3-0 Derby della Capitale defeat to Lazio and the Champions League exit to Porto.

Claudio Ranieri wis expected to arrive Friday morning from London, where he was recently sacked by Fulham, to take over as caretaker manager till the end of May.

This will be a caretaker role until the end of the season, with an option to extend, but few believe the club will rely on Ranieri going forward.

Ranieri returns to the Stadio Olimpico for the club he has always supported, as he already sat on their bench from September 2009 to February 2011.

Meanwhile, the wording of the statement on Di Francesco’s exit and the reports emerging from the training ground suggest the Coach agreed to walk away by mutual consent, saving the club a legal battle.
