Rising star in Maltese waterpolo signs for French side

One of the most promising rising stars in Maltese waterpolo is preparing for a move to France.

Jeremy Abela, 21, has signed a deal with premier division side Olympic Nice Natation.

The Neptunes WPSC player will head to the French Riviera as soon as the current waterpolo season finishes in Malta.

He is expected to return home next summer.

Jeremy has played overseas before.

He joined Molins de Rei in Spain two years ago and then played for Serbian side Vojvodina last winter.

Jeremy signed a four year contract with Balluta Bay-based Neptunes back in September.

He was also a key part of the Maltese national team at last year’s European Water Polo Championships in Barcelona.
