This one is for those 70’s babies that lived through the genesis of the home gaming console, or any modern gamer that respects the humble origins of video games that eventually evolved into the PS5’s everyone wants to buy. From Pong to Pac-Man, You must know I’m referring to Atari!
Atari has become a relic throughout the years, a legend in its own right, but it seems they don’t want to stay dormant! Now I don’t know how popular Atari was in Malta after its release in 1972, but I’m sure many Maltese have an idea of the gaming company that pioneered the idea of playing video games at home!
This meant that you no longer had to leave the house to go to the arcade to get your fix of video games, but they were right there on your TV at home.
Introducing the Atari hotel!
A chain of Atari hotels is planned to be built across the United States, starting in Las Vegas (obviously!). Although it will include casinos and adult entertainment, this hotel is far from a typical Las Vegas landmark.
Atari plans on incorporating all the nostalgia they created with an ultra-futuristic hotel, and the real selling point is that it wouldn’t a gaming-themed hotel without a gaming console in every single room. Sounds like it’s going to be a must-see for any gamer!
Shelly Murphy, Managing Partner, GSD Group, said, “Like Atari’s legacy in innovation, Atari Hotels is infusing synthetic reality into every aspect of the hotel, creating an immersive hospitality and gaming experience for our guests.” I mean, the hotel itself is modelled after the Atari logo.
Even the concept images for these hotels look like they were pulled straight out of a Virtual Reality game, and rightly so, since murphy continues saying, “From our virtual interactive world to the physical locations, every element of Atari Hotels will offer a unique and authentic experience for everyone.”
Seems like these Atari hotels will fuse reality and virtual reality together into some form of Cyberpunk setting, and I can’t wait to see what happens!
