After spending over 100 years on the world’s seabed, the iconic Titanic vessel might just disappear forever…
The warning comes from Ocean Gate, a group of submarine researchers who warned against the ship’s deterioration. They say that the ship, which is 3,800 metres under the sea surface, is deteriorating at a much faster pace.
The Titanic had initially left the port of Southampton on a maiden voyage to New York on the 10th of April, 1912. Four days later, it struck an iceberg about 600 kilometres off Newfoundland. Regretfully, the next day, it sank.
In total, 1,500 people among the 2,224 passengers and crew members that were on board had tragically died.
