A record number of holidaymakers visited the Maltese Islands in 2019, according to new figures.
More than 2.8 million tourists came to Malta last year, an increase of nearly 6 percent on 2018.
The figures were published by the Office for National Statistics in Valletta on Wednesday.
It said total nights spent by tourists went up by 4 per cent, surpassing 19.3 million nights.
Holidaymakers spent more during their vacations too, with total tourist expenditure estimated at €2.2 billion, a leap of 5.7 per cent higher compared to 2018.
