READ: ECDC Confirms Typing Error Led to Incorrect Reporting About Malta’s 15th COVID-19 Death

Late last night The Office of the Deputy Prime Minister and Ministry for Health issued a Clarification about a “15th COVID-19 Death” which was doing the rounds online, as data on the WHO website was showing that Malta had in fact, 15 deaths of people who were COVID-19 positive.

The Office of the Deputy Prime Minister said that this was a genuine typing error by the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control.

In fact, a representative of the ECDC which is the European Centre repsonsible for the provision of this data, sent an official apology to the Ministry, which Bay has seen, and which we are publishing with the permission of the Ministry, saying exactly this, and adding that the Centre needs to input data for 200 countries manually.

ECDC apologised for the mistake and updated its dataset with 14 deaths. The Office of the Deputy Prime Minister and Ministry for Health once again appealed to the general public not to disseminate false or incorrect information.
