Rain finally brings relief to Australian bush-fires

Hallelujah! Rain is pouring down on Australia, bringing relief to parts of the country affected by the bush-fires that hit over the last number of weeks.

The rain is forecast to continue over the weekend. It is still unknown to what extend the rain will aid in the areas that are still affected by the bush-fires. Floods are a possibility, together with damaging gusts of wind, ash and debris in water supplies, and the fact that lightning might also cause more fire within the areas.

While the rain will not put out the fire in its entirety, it will definitely aid firefighters in battling the blazes.

“All weather models are in agreement that NSW (New South Wales) is finally in for some relief with a widespread storm outbreak with the potential for some very good falls,” NSW Incident Alerts posted on Facebook. “These rainfall accumulations are expected over the course of the next 10 days.”

The fires have been wreaking havoc across Australia, so far killing 28 people, killing or imperiling more than 1 billion animals, destroying 2,000 homes and burning more than 25.5 million acres of land.

Throughout this difficult time, Malta has come together, with a number of influencers raising awareness about the issue, raising funds to help out in any way they can.
