Public Holidays on Weekends will be Added to Leave Entitlement as from 2021

 

Reversing a decision which was taken 15 years ago, as from next year, public holidays which will be falling on weekends, will be added to the leave entitlement.

This was announced by Minister Carmelo Abela after Cabinet approved the amendment which he put forward.

 

 

This means that an extra 3 days of leave will be added, with the full list of holidays being as follows:

  • 1st January: New Year’s Day
  • 10th February: St Paul’s Shipwreck
  • 19th March: Feast of St Joseph
  • 31st March: Freedom Day
  • Good Friday
  • 1st May: Worker’s Day
  • 7th June: Sette Giugno
  • 29th June: St Peter and St Paul
  • 15th August: Santa Maria
  • 8th September: Our Lady of Victories
  • 21st September: Independence Day
  • 8th December: Immaculate Conception
  • 13th December: Republic Day
  • 25th December: Christmas Day
