An investigation has started after Malta’s third major power cut in a month.
The electricity went off for around 10 minutes in several areas on Sunday night, including most of Gozo, Naxxar, Mosta, Marsascala
Mellieha and Fgura.
Qawra and Birkirkara were in darkness for around an hour while Sliema went without power for more than two hours.
Enemalta did not provide any immediate explanation for the latest power cut.
The energy company posted on Facebook: ‘Enemalta would like to inform the public that it has experienced extensive interruptions in the electricity supply.
‘At present, our ongoing technical personnel are working endlessly to solve this issue.’
89.7 Bay listeners in Tarxien, Fgura, Marsaxlokk, Ghaxaq, Rabat, Nadur and St Paul’s Bay reported a blackout that lasted from 5:50pm to 5:59pm.
Enemalta has launched an investigation.
