Police have launched an investigation after a concealed camera was discovered in the women’s toilets at Malta’s biggest hospital.
The electronic device was found by shocked cleaning staff at Mater Dei Hospital in Swatar on Thursday night.
Hospital bosses said they were taking the find ‘very seriously’ and had reported it to police.
Mater Dei chief executive Ivan Falzon said: ‘I am aware of a report escalated to the police about the discovery of what appeared to be an electronic device in one of our restrooms.
‘The police are investigating.’
A Malta Police spokesman confirmed they were ‘investigating a report of voyeurism’.
They told 89.7 Bay a camera had been found in the staff toilets and that they had seized the device to ‘analyse and establish whether any offences had been committed.’
