After recent talks with the health authorities and the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery at the University of Malta, students in clinical settings received a notification that they will be given a priority for vaccination.
The students following the courses below will be those included in the priority list:
- Bachelor of Science (Hons.) Pharmaceutical Science (All cohorts)
- Master of Pharmacy
- D. Clinical Years
- Doctorate in Pharmacy (All cohorts)
Moreover, the authorities of Mater Dei Hospital asked the Faculty to indicate the students who are vulnerable, as these will be given a priority. On the other hand, those who do not wish to take the vaccine should inform the respective department.
Meanwhile, in a reaction, the University’s Student Council, KSU, said that it was pleased to note this recent development, which comes after the council’s own plea for this to happen.
However, KSU added that it hoped that all UM healthcare students including those at the Faculty of Health Sciences and the Faculty of Dental Surgery “will also be contacted over the coming days, so as to ensure the safety of students and patients, and the successful continuation of students’ studies.”
