On Tuesday, The Weather Page Malta issued a warning against strong winds, which are expected to hit the Islands in the coming hours.
Since high winds can be potentially hazardous, people are advised not to swim or dive in any areas exposed to the Northwest wind from Tuesday afternoon till Thursday morning. These include Paradise Bay, Armier, Sliema, Golden Bay, Għajn Tuffieħa (Riviera Bay), Ġnejna Bay, Anchor Bay, Marsalforn, Dwejra, Xlendi, Ramla Bay, Ċirkewwa, and Comino.
Wind gusts are expected to reach Force 5, 6, and even 7 at times, primarily tomorrow. The Malta International Airport official forecast seconded this warning, with Wednesday showing the strongest winds.
The wind isn’t expected to properly die down until Friday, with the weekend seeing Force 3 and 4 gusts that will progressively reduce down to Force 2.
However, August might just be closing off with some highly anticipated rain showers, which is expected to land sometime ‘between 30th August and 6th September’, as per Maltese Islands Weather.
This will eventually escalate into ‘at least one single episode of a heavy thunderstorm and a possible medicane in our vicinity’ in Autumn. Malta Weather explained that this boils down to ‘the very hot sea contrasting with incoming cooler air’.
