One of Malta’s busiest roads will be closed on Thursday night

One of Malta’s busiest roads will be closed again on Thursday night.

Infrastructure Malta said that Sir Paul Boffa Avenue would be shut from 8pm to 5am for safety reasons as work on the new Marsa Flyovers continues.

The government agency said: ‘We are continuing the construction of the longest flyover of the Marsa Junction project.

‘To ensure road users’ safety, as we lay the flyover deck slab over this junction’s existing lanes, northbound traffic will be diverted to Santa Lucija Avenue, Luqa Road and Garibaldi Road towards Aldo Moro Road.

‘There will be no direct access from Sir Paul Boffa Avenue to Aldo Moro Road. Follow diversion signs or use alternative routes.’

The €70 million part-EU-funded project includes the construction of seven flyovers at Marsa to eliminate the bottleneck at the Addolorata traffic lights ansd reduce traffic congestion in the area.
