A ‘Peeping Tom’ nurse has admitted hiding a camera in a women’s toilet at Malta’s Mater Dei Hospital.
Alexander Borg, 28 from Fgura, pleaded guilty when he appeared in court in Valletta on Thursday afternoon.
He was arrested a month after the camera was found in a staff toilet inside the hospital’s emergency department while it was being cleaned.
Police inspector Colin Sheldon told the court the victims ‘were not aware of the intrusion into their privacy.’
He said the man needed psychological help rather than prison.
Defence lawyer Ishmael Psaila claimed a jail sentence would send his client ‘100 million steps backwards’.
The accused will be sentenced on Monday following background reports.
Borg was released from arrest against a deposit of €500 and a personal guarantee of €5,000. #
He was also ordered to observe a curfew and sign the bail book every day.
