Christmas is officially a mere two weeks away and from now up until Christmas Eve, Blind Date with a Book is providing wrapped books in telephone booths in our beloved Valletta as gifts for passers-by – I mean, how adorable and wholesome is that?
This project is being organised by the Valletta Cultural Agency as part of Christmas in the City, and as a way to encourage readers to step out of their comfort zones and explore the genres they may not usually pick up or buy…
This is also part of a global strategy aiming to promote literature and Maltese writers whilst also raising awareness and appreciation for the beauty of Maltese literature and writers.
All of the books found within the telephone booths are winners of esteemed awards and have been penned by Maltese authors, including the late and dear Oliver Friggieri, and is taking place in many Telephone Booths in Republic Street, Valletta between 6 pm and 8:30 pm.
As for the rest of the events that The Valletta Cultural Agency has in store for us this festive season, you can find their full programme of events on their Facebook page!
So, if you’re looking for something to do this weekend, head down to Valletta – but kindly remember to only touch the book you intend on taking so that this can be a wonderful experience for all! Oh, and don’t forget to abide by all the safety measures being carried out!
