Malta has changed – and how!
This is how St Julian’s looked when your great, great, great, great grandmother was alive.
The amazing set of fascinating pictures give an intriguing insight into life in Malta more than 160 years ago.
The sepia images were taken by Victorian photographer Giuseppi Calleja in the 1850s.
The priceless pictures were uncovered in an old family album by Matthew Vella.
They capture amazing views of Spinola Bay and Balluta Bay in St Julian’s, long before the motor car was invented.
So sit down for five minutes and take a nostalgic step back in time.
Some views, like this one of Balluta Bay, are instantly recognisable.
