This is not a drill Bridgerton fans – two new characters have been cast in major roles for the upcoming second season of the insanely popular and beloved Regency-era drama…

First off, we have newcomer Charithra Chandran, who is thought to have landed the role of Edwina. The second season of the series will be based on the second book in Julia Quinn’s romance series, The Viscount Who Loved Me.
Meanwhile, Doctor Who’s Rupert Young has also been cast in a major role. Young and Chandran join Sex Education’s Simone Ashley, who has previously been cast as lead Kate Sharma.
Currently, production is expected to begin sometime this Spring, and the upcoming season will follow the eldest of the Bridgerton clan, Anthony, and his quest for love…
In the book, Anthony falls for Edwina Sharma, before falling even harder for her older sister, Kate. So, it sounds like Season 2 is going to bring some MAJOR drama.
As for Young, he is expected to play Jack, the newest member of the Ton with a connection to one of its most notable families and a Bridgerton mystery. However, he was created solely for the series and is not found in the books.
Bridgerton is also expected to keep breaking typical racial conventions in period drama, as Kate Sharma is meant to reflect the family’s Indian descent.
