As Netflix continues to dominate the streaming world, rumours are suggesting that the tech giant is looking to expand into the gaming industry. Although nothing is confirmed yet, the news would not come as a surprise, considering the rise in video games throughout the pandemic.
As per reports, Netflix has been recruiting a head executive to lead its new video game division, having been in touch with ‘veteran game industry executives’ for the new position.
In a statement, Netflix shared, ‘Our members value the variety and quality of our content. It’s why we’ve continually expanded our offering… So we’re excited to do more with interactive entertainment’.
Rumours also suggest that the company is looking to offer ‘bundle’ video games for its users. And if you’re unfamiliar, Netflix is no stranger to creating interactive content…
Back in 2018, Netflix released the video game-like title Black Mirror: Bandersnatch. Last year, the company also experimented with a similar format for an episode of Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt.
