Your weekend prayers have been answered! Over the Carnival Weekend we will be spared the stress and the anxiety of long ferry queues which some of us experienced yesterday.
Fear not, however! Gozo Channel Line has announced that after five weeks of extensive maintentance, the MV Ta’ Pinu will be back in action in the coming days, re-joining the ferry fleet crossing between Malta and Gozo on a daily basis.
Gozo Channel engineering manager said that given the fact that next month will mark the 20-year anniversary of the MV Ta’ Pinu, this time round they had to give it a special re-fit, which is different than the routine re-fits which is usually given twice every five years.
The ship’s lower part was given a massive cleanup and a fresh coat of paint, same as the parts which are above sea-level. Inside, the ship was given a revamp, making it more appealing to the eye. The biggest part of this mainentance job was in the heart of the ship i.e. the engines.
MV Ta’ Pinu is now at Cirkewwa for further and final maintenance before it can join the fleet later on this week.
