Record numbers of us went to Gozo this summer, according to new figures.
The Gozo ferries carried more than 1.8 million passengers and 550 thousand cars in June, July and August.
Gozo Channel said the 7.7% increase in passenger numbers was boosted by the addition of a fourth ship, the MV Nikolaus.
In all, 8,386 ferry trips were operated between Cirkewwa and Mgarr over the three months.
Gozo Minister Justyne Caruana said: ‘Although summer is always a peak season for Gozo Channel, we have now reached a stage where there are also challenges to overcome in the other seasons because Gozo has become a tourist attraction all year round.’
The Gozo Tourism Association said that while summer had ‘brought positive results’ the prospects for October and November also looked ‘very good’.
