Michael B. Jordan is set to not only reprise his role of Adonis Johnson Creed and co-produce the film, but he’s also locked in his directorial debut for the upcoming Creed III.
That’s right 2020’s Sexiest Man Alive has been tapped to direct Creed III, which is set for release on November 23rd in 2022. Jordan took to Instagram to share the news, writing, ‘Excited is an understatement! Directing has always been an aspiration, but the timing had to be right’.
He added, ‘Creed III is that moment—a time in my life where I’ve grown more sure of who I am, holding agency in my own story, maturing personally, growing professionally, and learning from the Greats like Ryan Coogler, most recently Denzel Washington, and other top tier directors I respect. All of which sets the table for this moment.’
‘This franchise and in particular the themes of Creed III are deeply personal to me. I look forward to sharing the next chapter of Adonis Creed’s story with the same responsibility of being its director and namesake.’
Meanwhile, Tessa Thompson and Phylicia Rashad are expected to reprise their roles. The Creed franchise takes place in the universe of Sylvester Stallone in his Rocky film franchise, but it’s unclear if he will return.
Creed is also directed by Blank Panther’s Ryan Coogler and first debuted in 2015 and then again in 2018.
