With only 3 days left to cast your vote, it’s time to get better acquainted with the local songs that made us dance to the beat and sing our hearts out!
We’re about to walk you through the Bay Music Awards with Bank of Valletta nominees for the Best Song category.
On the 14th of May, one person from each of our 8 categories will walk away with the trophy. Who will come out on top at the end of the night? Well, that’s entirely up to you.
Making your decision won’t be easy. These songs spent weeks at the top of our Malta’s Top 10 weeks, and love every single one of them, but hopefully this article will make it a bit easier or you.
The Best Song (Isolator’s Choice Award) is brought to you by Global Tech Malta.
IRA LOSCO FT. MICHELA – CANNONBALL
The track was originally recorded by Ira as a solo version for her latest double-album No Sinner No Saint. But, Ira brought in X Factor Malta winner Michela to add in some extra vocal power.
This was the first time we heard Michela sing an original, after her Eurovision entry, Chameleon
Cannonball is written by Ira Losco and fellow X Factor Judge and producer Howard Keith who was also Michela’s mentor during her time in X Factor.
RED ELECTRICK – DIVE IN
Last November, Red Electrick debuted their fourth album, Tragic Optimistic, which contained 13 tracks, including popular hits like, Right Here, G.O.R.G.E.O.U.S, New Day and perhaps the most popular of them all Dive In.
The single left its mark on local radio, dominating local charts at number one for weeks! Dive In shows Red Electrick in a different light with a sound influenced by the 1980s era.
B-OK FT. MICHELA – SAY IT FIRST
Michela’s vocals absolutely shine through in this track.
Say It First is another collaboration with the Austrian producer Boris Milanov, who worked with Michela on her 2019 Eurovision entry for Malta, Chameleon.
It also features top, internationally-acclaimed producer B-OK.
DESTINY – ALL OF MY LOVE
All of My Love is not only the song that Destiny would have represented Malta with should Eurovision had not been cancelled for 2020, but it’s also Destiny’s first original as a young adult, following winning the Junior Eurovision back in 2015 with Not My Soul.
Following its music video release on YouTube, All Of My Love accumulated more than one million views. Malta was also among the top ten countries to win with the bookmakers before the song contest’s cancellation.
The song is written by the very successful Symphonix team. One of the standout names is Borislav Milanov, who has written several Eurovision hits, including If Love Was A Crime and Beautiful Mess for Bulgaria in 2016 and 2017 respectively.
Meanwhile, Cesár Sampson came third for Austria at Eurovision 2018 with Nobody But You.
