But despite the devastating situation Owen found himself in, he persevered and instantly began his road to recovery.
“I began setting personal targets to help me with my recovery. I had a lifetime ahead of me and I only had one go at it.
“You can never consider your prosthetic leg a disadvantage because this would only fuel regress.
“You need to focus on how you can improve your current situation,” he says determinedly.
After just four months, Owen was able to walk on a prosthetic leg without any help. And after a year, Owen is living as normal a life as he can possibly muster … but there’s still something that can drastically improve his quality of life.
The Rheo Knee will give Owen as close to a fully functional leg that he can get, with microchips that control the pace the leg works with and flexibility and bend like no other.
With the support of Puttinu Cares, Owen is reaching out to the public, to you, to help him raise the €32,000 needed to purchase the Rheo Knee.
