Malta has got off to a dream start at the Mediterranean Bowling Championships, winning three medals on the first day of the international tournament
Malta took silver and bronze in the ladies singles competition, held at the Eden Superbowl in St Julian’s.
Sue Abela came second behind Georgia Sagona from Greece who won gold.
Malta’s Sara Xuereb was in third place, winning bronze.
In the men’s singles tournament, Malta won the silver medal thanks to an impressive performance by Mauro Anastasi.
Italy won gold in the event with Slovenia taking bronze.
A record 16 nations are taking part in this year’s tournament, including France, Spain, Portugal, Italy, Turkey, Tunisia, Egypt, Greece, Gibraltar, Cyprus and Malta.
The Mediterranean Bowling Championships are being held until Saturday at the Eden Superbowl in St Julian’s.
