The job of those who work within the Emergency Department offers its own special kind of merit.
Whoever does the job, does it without need for validation … but it’s still amazing to hear that people who save others’ lives on a daily basis have gotten the nation wide recognition that they deserve.
Only yesterday, the Emergency Department was awarded team of the year at this year’s edition of The Worker of the Year National Awards.

“Congratulations to our great team at the Emergency Department for winning the ‘Premju Nazzjonali Ħaddiema tas-Sena 2019’ Team section.
We are very proud of our Emergency Department team who deliver the highest quality care, even when faced with record demand”, Materdei Hospital writes in a recent Facebook post!
Considering the amount of team work that goes into the department, where they’re constantly working hand-in-hand creating a chain reaction of saving lives, we are ever happier with their latest achievement.
Deputy Charge nurse Rachel Borg explains: “When you resuscitate someone back to life through CPR or you tend to him at the Emergency room and they return, looking for whoever it was that saved their life, just to thank them, it’s not the thanks that you appreciate, but the fact that you’re seeing him alive, right in front of your eyes, fully well knowing that he was dead … that’s the biggest satisfaction.”
A huge well done to the team in the Emergency Department.
