Malta’s Archbishop Mgr Charles J Scicluna announced that masses will be resuming on the weekend of the 13th – 14th June 2020. However, the exemption from the obligation of Sunday Mass will not be lifted for the time being, as there are still a segment of the Maltese population who, for some reason or other, will not be able to physically hear mass in Church.
The Archdiocese of Malta has also published a set of precautionary measures which have to be followed – all of which have been prepared after thorough consultation with the Health Authorities.
Mgr Scicluna said capacity in churches would be reduced according to a set formula based on the footprint, to ensure social distancing, whilst also announcing that streaming of Mass on television and social media would continue for the time being.
The Archbishop also said that Confirmation and First Holy Communion, could be held at the end of summer if the situation kept improving.
