Chelsea are guaranteed European Champions League action next season while Manchester United’s hopes of continental football have come to a disappointing end and Arsenal now need a miracle to finish in the top four.
Chelsea beat Watford 3-0 in their English Premier League match on Sunday, while Arsenal were held 1-1 at home by Socceroos goalkeeper Mat Ryan’s Brighton, and Manchester United also drew 1-1 at Aussie Aaron Mooy’s Huddersfield.
Arsenal’s draw in the late match guaranteed Chelsea of finishing in the top four and a Champions League place, with Tottenham on the cusp of joining them.
Needing a win, Arsenal and Manchester United both came up empty against teams at the bottom of the table.
