Police investigate after man found dead in Gozo

Police have launched an investigation after an elderly man’s body was found in a flat in Gozo.

A 75-year-old was discovered by police after they were alerted by concerned neighbours in Xlendi on Thursday morning.

It is understood that police officers had to break down the door of the flat to gain entry.

It’s reported the body was found in an ‘advanced state of decomposition’.

A Malta Police spokesman told 89.7 Bay: ‘Police responded to an address in Żirżieb Street in Xlendi at around 11am on Thursday following reports of concern for the occupant.

‘After entering the property the body of a 75-year-old British man was found within.

‘Our initial investigations show there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding this death.’

An inquiry has been launched.
