Following a joint collaboration between the Cospicua District Police, the Rapid Intervention Unit and the Violent Crimes Unit within the Department of Criminal Investigation, a 30-year old man from Cospicua, has been arrested shortly after a hold-up on a delivery person, as reported earlier on Bay News.
The man is also being investigated with regards to three similar hold-ups on delivery persons which took place last week in Zabbar, Senglea and San Gwann.
From the description given by yesterday’s victim, it resulted that the man lives in a residence situated in St Francis Street in Cospicua. As the Police reported to the man’s residence, he tried to escape through a window, when he was arrested on the spot.
The man was then taken to the Police lock-up in Floriana for further investigation when the Police concluded that he was the same person who allegedly committed the other hold-ups last week.
Meanwhile, Inspector Fabien Fleri from the Violent Crimes Unit within the Department of Criminal Investigation appealed to all outlets who carry out delivery services, to accept payment upon order and before delivery so that couriers will not have to handle any cash, thus reducing the chance of these hold-ups ever happening again.
