Maltese water polo star hits the big time in Italy

A Maltese water polo star is about to hit the big time in Italy.

Neptunes defender Jordan Camilleri is moving to Rome next season.

He has agreed a transfer deal with Roma Nuoto, where his brother Stevie already plays.

It will be his first club experience outside Malta but insisted he is determined to succeed in the Italian capital.

He revealed: ‘I can’t wait to start in Rome. I’m so excited and motivated.

‘I want to experience this new adventure in a big way. I’m grateful to Roma Nuoto for giving me this opportunity.’

‘I’m convinced that we will do well and I hope I’ll play a big part in next season’s goals.’

Roma Nuoto president Nicolo Cristofaro added: ‘We are very happy that Jordan has accepted our proposal.

‘I was struck by his determination and desire. I’m convinced that he will give us a big hand and will marry perfectly with the team we have built. I wish him the best of luck.’

Jordan is engaged to Maltese Eurovision singer Christabelle Borg.

They are due to marry later this year.
