Maltese Teens Use The Most Pirated Content In the EU, Study Finds

According to a study, Maltese youths showed the highest rates of knowingly accessing pirated content across the EU.





This was confirmed by the 2022 edition of the Intellectual Property and Youth Scoreboard released by the European Union Intellectual Property Office.





This study concluded that:

  • 41 per cent of Maltese youth bought fake items intentionally

  • 43 per cent of Maltese youth knew they were accessing pirated content

  • The most pirated content was films, followed by TV series and finally music

  • The most purchased fake item was clothes, followed by electronics.

In comparison, other countries averaged 37 per cent when buying fake products and 21 per cent pirated content.
