With surfing weather in full swing, the Malta Surf School was busy catching waves yesterday and thank god they were too.
They came across a young turtle with a fishing net caught around its neck and instantly sprung into action, seeing how they could save the turtle and take it back to its natural habitat.
Malta Surf School posted the great act on Facebook, praising those involved for being quick to think on their feet and take action.
And although these surfers did a noble deed indeed, it’s important to keep the Nature Trust number handy in cases where you come across turtles in distress.
If you come across a turtle with plastic around its neck or see visible signs of distress, just call 9999 9505 or 2131 3150.
