Maltese Runner To Take On 18-Hour Challenge In Aid Of Soup Kitchen

Stephen Sammut Nurminen will undertake his most difficult attempt yet this Christmas eve, where he will run for a total of 18 hours around the University sports track in Msida in aid of Valletta’s Soup Kitchen.

For every 10 minutes he runs, one meal will be donated to Soup Kitchen OFM in Valletta by meal prep company Fortify Meals. From the whole run, 108 dinners will be provided to the homeless and those in need during this festive season.

This will be one of the many challenges that Sammut Nurminen takes up. Back in July of this year, he ran the length of Malta for three times – a total of 110 kilometres – in 12 hours to raise funds for the Richmond Foundation.

He explained that he will be running from midnight until 6pm on Friday, with 15 to 30 minute breaks in between.

Soup Kitchen OFM receives around 90 meal requests per day – with costs which add up to €4,000 every week to provide for the homeless. If you wish to donate to this cause, you can do so through the following link:
