Maltese Parents Aiming To Raise €50,000 To Help Their Pre-Term Baby

A local couple is trying to raise funds for their months-old daughter Kara Mae to be transferred to the UK.

As the GoGetFunding page reads, ‘Baby Kara Mae Gauci was born on August 24th 2021 as a preterm baby. She was transferred directly to the NPICU in Malta. As days passed by Kara was getting better according to her weight as she was born only weighing 1.78kg.’

No description available.

‘But the consultant, doctors, and nurses noticed that she was having episodes that involved bradycardia and desaturations. They did every test possible in Mater Dei hospital, Malta and these tests didn’t give us any definitive answer about what is causing these episodes.’

The parents wish to transfer their daughter to the UK in a bid to find out the cause behind the problem before it gets any worse.

‘Our wish is to transfer Kara to a hospital in the UK that specialises in pediatric care for the hope of finding the cause of the problems and the care for the problem.’, added Mariana Debrincat.

As it stands, the ‘Save Baby Kara Mae’ campaign has raised €8,944 from its €50,000 goal. You can help by donating here!
