The Maltese are among the world’s laziest with almost half not doing enough exercise.
Malta ranked third from bottom in a list of the least active European countries – only Portugal and Croatia fared worse.
The shocking Eurostat statistics showed that 47.8% of people in Malta said they performed no exercise at all.
Almost 2% of people in Malta did less than an hour of exercise a week.
A third exercised between one to three hours per week, while 13.6% exercised between three and five hours, while 6.2% exercised for five hours or more.
At the other end of the spectrum, nearly all of Slovakia’s population exercises. In Romania too, 96% of the population does regular exercise.
