She’s the Maltese schoolgirl who has become an overnight sensation.
And now Giorgia Borg, 11, has taken to social media to thank the Maltese public for their support after her incredible performance on Britain’s Got Talent.
She posted on Instagram: ‘I’m overwhelmed, so many messages, calls, comments. Thank you all so very much.
‘Unfortunately it’s impossible to reply to all the comments but slowly, slowly I am reading them all.
‘I cannot thank you guys enough. You are all very special to me – my family, friends, my team and my fans.
‘Love you all so much. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!’
Giorgia, 10, won one of just five golden buzzer places when she performed her soulful original song ‘Ten’ in front of judges Simon Cowell, David Walliams, Amanda Holden and Alesha Dixon.
The video of her Britain’s Got Talent performance has gone viral online and started trending on YouTube.
It racked up around 3.6 million views in less than three days.
Some Britain’s Got Talent viewers have complained that Giorgia Borg is ‘already a star’, having sung the exact same song on TVM last year during the Malta Junior Eurovision Song Contest.
However, others stuck up for her on Twitter, insisting: ‘The Malta Junior Eurovision and a couple small European talent shows are not exactly the international platform BGT provides.’
Giorgia was due to arrive back in Malta on Monday night after her latest trip to London for the ITV talent show.
